— Working With Schools
Spark your pupil’s excitement for history with a visit to Brixham Heritage Museum!
Our museum guards Brixham’s heritage and tells the town’s story from prehistory to the present day.
We offer a range of schools’ group activities, workshops and tours on a variety of topics.
We bring the curriculum alive by engaging children with the museum’s collections through role play, handling real and replica objects, craft activities, poetry, storytelling, archaeology, guided tours and trails.
Our workshops include:
- Prehistory – who or what was lurking in Brixham’s caves in prehistory?
- Explorers – Find out about shipbuilding and life on a Tudor ship, learn how rope was made and take your own rope back to the classroom.
- Brixham and WW2 – what was life like in WW2 and why was Brixham so important to the allied victory?
Workshops can be 1-2 hours long and you are welcome to have free time to look around after your led workshop.
